Evian’s dancing babies commercial has gained over 96 million views on YouTube, which is not surprising as it follows the six sticky principles. The idea behind the ad is so simple: adults see the baby version of themselves on a window and start dancing. At the very end, you see bottles of Evian with a tagline: Live young. There are no subtitles and just one brief voiceover at the very end.
The commercial is very creative and unique, thus unexpected. You want to keep watching the full 1:15 minute commercial to see how each person’s baby looks and what the baby does. The idea of the commercial is very clear and concrete - drink Evian and you will stay youthful.
Evian is an established and well-known brand, which lends some credibility to the commercial. While this commercial in my opinion is too unrealistic to build true credibility, I believe it does encourage trial/purchase for consumers to see for themselves if Evian is as pure, natural and youthful as they say they are. The dancing babies are so cute, and the dance moves are funny, so you can’t help but smile. This commercial makes you feel good. There is a story, albeit a very simple one.
Very cool indeed! It's so simple and uses two out of three things a marketing instructor once suggested helps sell products: sex, babies and pets. You can figure out which two I am talking about. Definitely memorable too.
